Fostering Women Leaders

The topic of senior leadership gender diversity pops again with California becoming the first state in America in late 2018 to legally mandate female representation on the boards of publically traded companies based there.

Many countries have had laws requiring gender diversity or reporting on Boards for some time. In Australia, 45% of new appointments to ASX 200 Boards in 2018 were women. However, to have great directors, there needs to be a pipeline, generally from senior executive. This article from McKinsey is a good reminder of the practical actions companies can take in order to create a comprehensive talent pipeline.
